Diatomite, Expanded Perlite and Silicates
The price of natural gas and fuel oil in the United States, and for global hydrocarbon energy in general, has increased to unprecedented levels. The rise in energy prices has had a significant impact on the production costs for all of our plants. As a result, we have no choice but to implement an energy surcharge which will appear as a separate line item on your invoice.
We will adjust the surcharge monthly based on the trailing average NYMEX Henry Hub natural gas spot market price versus a base price of $7.20/MMBTU. The surcharge will be calculated on the 26th of the month proceeding the month of implementation. The chart below outlines the surcharge.There will not be a surcharge for April 2012 as the price fell below our base price of $7.20/MMBTU, calculation details.
Any changes in the surcharge will become effective the first day of the month.
Perlite Ore
The energy surcharge for all Perlite Ore shipments will be based on the preceding months average Retail On-Highway Diesel Prices for the Rocky Mountain region provided by the Energy Information Administration. Reference the Perlite Ore chart below for the surcharge amount. There will be a surcharge of $2.50/short ton for April 2012 as the price is above our base price of $3.30/Gallon, calculation details. Any changes in the surcharge will become effective the first day of the month.
